The Solution
Since Liquid Assets contacted me before the doors were open to the public, we were able to come up with a website concept that reflected their shop as it evolved physically in store.
Through our discussions, it was important to figure out the best solution for the eCommerce portion of the site. There were two options on the table. The first option was to pull inventory from their Square account into WordPress and utilize Woocommerce to sell. The second option was to use a 3rd party system called CityHive and plug that into the site. After deep-diving these two options and talking with CityHive to understand their system, using the 3rd party system seemed bulletproof.
While building out their website, the owners also wanted to create an in-store kiosk for customers to use to help select a wine. This virtual sommelier needed to be tied into their Square inventory and show results based on answering a handful of simple questions. After determining the questions and different sets of paths a customer would take the next step was to come up with a design that was intuitive to the user. During the development of this app, we utilized Heroku, Ruby on Rails, Github and, of course, pulling inventory from Square.
